Charles Roe papers, 1837-1907.

Memorandum books (1889, 1896-1905) and miscellaneous letters, receipts, and certificates (1837-1907) of Roe, a British naval captain and merchant ship commander who emigrated to St. Paul (Minn.) about 1888. The memoranda note the weather; birth, death, and marriage dates of friends and family; historic events; biblical quotations; and religious themes. There are also several letters (1888-1889) from Roe's daughter in Poole, England, to her husband, Thomas Williams, describing her attempts to sell family property there.
